Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 3rd annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival produced by the CSU Department of Communication Studies. The ACT Human Rights Film Festival relies on the generosity and dedication of volunteers like you to make the festival in April, and ACT’s year-round pre-festival events run smoothly.

In order to volunteer, please click on both of the buttons below. You will need to sign-up electronically for an available volunteer shift, in addition to printing and completing the volunteer waiver form. Please bring the completed volunteer waiver form with you to your shift.

Opportunities & Benefits

Volunteer Opportunities at the Festival

  • Theater Set-Up & Operations
    Volunteer will assist festival staff with setting up festival. Note this is likely to involve some physical labor such as lifting and moving equipment such as tables and chairs. Volunteers will then help with theater operations including ushering, ticket-taking, etc. On-site training provided.
  • Theater Operations
    These volunteers have varied tasks. Volunteers will assist festival management with guests and festival operations including ushering, checking tickets, theater setup/strike, etc. On-site training provided.
  • Film Reception Assistance
    Volunteers will assist festival management with guests and festival reception setup and management including, directing guests to reception space and checking credentials at the door. On-site training provided. Shift notes: Closing Night post film reception will take place in the LSC Ballroom-350D
  • Festival Information & Ticketing Desk
    These volunteers will serve as points of information for people attending the festival. This is a customer service oriented position and volunteers will help patrons with festival questions. Volunteers in the position will also help manage the comp and Will Call ticket distribution. On-site training provided.
